William Morrow to Publish Tony La Russa's Memoir

Posted on March 19, 2012

William Morrow announced that it will publish the memoir of baseball manager Tony La Russa. The book will be called One Last Strike: Fifty Years in Baseball, Ten and a Half Games Back, and One Final Championship Season. The book will be published in the fall of 2012.

Senior Vice President and Director of Creative Development Lisa Sharkey said in a statement, "When it comes to baseball, Tony La Russa is legendary. He defines America's greatest pastime, and every season in his nearly fifty year-long pro baseball career primed him for the post season of 2011. This book is a must-read for sports fans everywhere,"

The publisher says that the book will reveal how La Russa's years of experience managing the St. Louis Cardinals helped lead the team to the 2011 World Series victory, despite all the injuries and setbacks the team encountered.

La Russa said, "This is a story, not only of dramatic moments, but how those dramatic moments were produced. This is a story about being ten and a half games out, a historic comeback and winning a World Series Championship as an underdog. People ask me 'how did you do it'? This book will explain how." Veteran journalist Rick Hummel will co-write the book.
