The McGraw-Hill Companies has named William P. Kupper, Jr., president of Business Week Group. He succeeds David G. Ferm, who resigned to pursue new opportunities as head of Primedia's Business-to-Business Group.
``Bill Kupper has been a major player in Business Week's success for the past five years. He has been Business Week's publisher since 1999 and he has led Business Week's worldwide sales force, which has produced record sales and profit growth each year since 1995,'' said Harold McGraw III, chairman, president and chief executive officer of The McGraw-Hill Companies.
``Bill is especially well-prepared to lead the continued expansion of the Business Week franchise,'' said Mr. McGraw. ``Bill will ensure that Business Week's operations continue to excel along with its unparalleled editorial product, led by Stephen B. Shepard, editor in chief.''
Kupper has had a distinguished career in publishing. Before joining The McGraw-Hill Companies in 1995 as senior vice president, U.S. Advertising Sales for Business Week, he was publisher of Health Magazine, part of Time, Inc.'s Publishing Venture Group. During his 24-year career at Time, Inc., Kupper held a number of senior sales management positions, including advertising sales manager for Sports Illustrated, advertising director for Life Magazine and international advertising director for Time magazine.
