Wimpy Kid Book 8 Revealed as Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck

Amulet Books, an imprint of Abrams, has revealed the title of book eight in the Jeff Kinney's bestselling Wimpy Kid series. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck will be released on November 5, 2013. Amulet says the new book will have the largest first printing of any book this year. They did not give the exact number of the print run, but the seventh book in the series had a 6.5-million-copy first printing in 2012.

Greg Heffley is on a losing streak in Hard Luck. His best friend, Rowley Jefferson, has abandoned him, and Greg is finding it difficult to make new friends in middle school. To change his fortunes, Greg decides to take a leap of faith and turn his decisions over to chance. Will a roll of the dice help Greg turn things around, or is his life destined to be just another hard-luck story?

Jeff Kinney said in a statement, "I'm incredibly excited about Hard Luck. I think the cover is our strongest yet, and the book has been a ton of fun to write.
