Women Arrested Because of Overdue Library Books

Posted on August 22, 2008

A Wisconsin woman was arrested for failure to pay library fines on two overdue books. The story says she was literally led away in handcuffs which is very shocking. She ignored four library notices, two phones calls, two letters and a citation.

"I said, what could they possibly do? They can't arrest me for this... I was wrong," Dalibor said. Dalibor was released after paying her $170 fine. "I completely take responsibility for not paying my fine on time and not going to my court date," Dalibor said.
The overdue books included White Oleander and Angels and Demons. She doesn't plan to return them now that she has paid the $170 fine. UPI quotes Heidi Dalibor as saying, "I still have the books and I don't plan to return them because they're paid for now."

She should definitely keep them now. It would have been cheaper to order the two books on Amazon.com.
