Writers Launch Occupy Writers Website to Support Occupy Wall Street

Posted on October 19, 2011

Writers have launched a website, occupywriters.com, to support the Occupy Wall Street movement. The front page of the website includes a long list of writers supporting the movement, including Margaret Atwood, Noam Chomsky, Samuel R. Delany, Neil Gaiman, Ursula Le Guin, Ann Patchett, Salman Rushdie and James Wolcott.

The site is also starting to add original works by some of the supporting authors. There are poems by Alice Walker and a list of thirteen observations made by Lemony Snicket while watching Occupy Wall Street from a discreet distance. One of Snicket's observations is "people who say money doesn't matter are like people who say cake doesn't matter-it's probably because they've already had a few slices."
