Writers Wanted for Peter Pan Sequel
Posted on August 20, 2004
Can you write Peter Pan 2? W.M. Barrie, the author of Peter Pan, left the rights to his work and the royalty checks to the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. With the copyright for Peter Pan expiring in 2007, the hospital is now looking for a writer to continue the children's classic using the same characters. However, this serious contest is not for the novice. The BBC reports that that literary agents and publishers may suggest up to two authors for the Peter Pan sequel. A brief synopsis and sample chapter must be submitted by January 31, 2005. A Guardian news story about the new book said that the entries will be judged by a panel headed by film producer Lord Puttnam. Proceeds from the book will be split with the hospital. The BBC also reports that the new Peter Pan book will hit bookstores as early as 2005.
