Ziff-Davis has launched DevHead, an online resource for Webmasters and developers. An important addition to the ZDNet Website, DevHead features regular, exclusive columns from experts the Web developer community. The site also provides access to Ziff-Davis' developer-focused editorial and interactive services, including news, product reviews, tutorials and a range of free online tools and downloads.

"Until now, Web developers had to search across various sites for relevant news, opinions, downloads, tutorials and advice," said Dan Farber, vice president and editor-in-chief, ZDNet. "DevHead effectively streamlines this process on ZDNet. With Ziff-Davis' stamp of editorial quality and comprehensiveness, Web developers are now able to keep up with industry trends, the latest technologies, and the hottest new software tools."

The Web developer market is undergoing rapid growth in both the number of practitioners and the amount of money spent in Web development technologies. A recent report by Jupiter Communications estimates that there are approximately 60,000 professional developers directly responsible for the creation of website pages. This number will increase to 127,000 by 2002 as the Web expands. This is just the tip of the iceberg, as there are also millions of amateur Web developers who create their own sites. Also according to Jupiter, the consumer website software market, including content creation, development tools, and servers, is currently worth $258 million and will grow to more than $672 million by 2002 in the US.
