Ziff-Davis Buys Disney's Interest in FamilyPC

Posted on June 11, 1998

Ziff-Davis and Buena Vista Magazines, the magazine publishing arm of The Walt Disney Company announced that Ziff-Davis has acquired Disney's 50% interest in FamilyPC. Disney and Ziff-Davis launched the magazine in 1994 through a 50/50 partnership.

"It was a terrific experience to work on the launch of FamilyPC with Disney," said Robin Raskin, the magazine's Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of FamilyPC, "but four years down the road, it's become clear that FamilyPC speaks best to knowledgeable and enthusiastic computer users. Ziff-Davis is the natural fit. That said, we're delighted to be continuing our participation with Disney in programs like Innoventions at Walt Disney World in Orlando."

FamilyPC lets the public rate today's PC software, hardware and websites. The magazine has an average issue audience of more than 1.35 million readers. FamilyPC has a circulation of 400,000 and is a leading source of information and inspiration for the booming family computer market.
