Ziff-Davis has announced that it has made an additional investment in Red Herring Communications, Inc., the privately-held publisher of Red Herring Magazine.

Eric Hippeau, the Chairman and CEO of Ziff-Davis, said, "We have a strong commitment to the community forming around the Internet Economy, as does the Red Herring team. It is our belief that the Red Herring brand will continue to play a pivotal role in chronicling the development of this emerging marketplace. We look forward to partnering with them to meet the needs of the burgeoning Internet Economy."

Ziff-Davis made its initial investment in Red Herring Communications in 1997. In addition to the investment, the two technology media companies jointly developed online content for ZDNet and are co-producing COMDEX Venture Forum, a high-level management conference for strategic decision makers and emerging companies working on creating new technologies for the future.

With today's investment, Ziff-Davis will receive another seat on Red Herring Communications' Board of Directors, which will be occupied by Tom McGrade. McGrade, Executive Vice President of ZD Publishing, joins Hippeau, Perkins, Christopher Alden, president and editorial director of Red Herring Communications, and individual investor Ronald Conway on the board.
