Ziff-Davis To Form Joint Venture With APN

Posted on April 8, 1998

Ziff-Davis and Australian Provincial Newspapers (APN) announced their intention to form a joint venture computer publishing business, to be known as ZD APN Partners. These two companies, both leaders in their respective markets, will join forces to produce the leading computer-related information sources for the Australian marketplace.

ZD APN Partners will publish Australian editions of both PC Magazine and PC Week. The joint venture will also publish localized versions of ZDNet, Ziff-Davis' website about computing, as well as Gamespot and VideoGames.com, which together constitute the games channel of ZD Net. In addition, the joint venture will launch other print and online resources to serve both the business and consumer information needs of Australia's computer market.

Through their licensing relationship, Ziff-Davis and APN have already built strong market positions for PC Magazine, PC Week, ZDNet, and the gaming sites. PC Magazine is Australia's most authoritative monthly computer publication, offering comprehensive support for computer buying decisions through its world-class, labs-based reviews and features, which cover the whole range of computer products available in Australia. PC Week is the market's only computer newsweekly built upon a fully qualified circulation of corporate IT managers.
