Posted on December 14, 2001
The Ziff Davis Media Game Group announced the launch of their upcoming magazine, Xbox Nation, a publication covering Microsoft's new gaming platform, the Xbox. Xbox Nation debuted on the newsstands December 11.
"Xbox Nation will guide the proud new owners of this powerful console through the dizzying array of games out for the holidays. With focused, in-depth and entertaining editorials, we will quickly establish ourselves as the most trusted voice in the Xbox market,'' said newly appointed editor-in-chief, Simon Cox. ``We'll have the most comprehensive coverage of all things Xbox, and that is just what gamers want when they first buy a new console.''
Xbox Nation will launch as a quarterly magazine with a distribution of 200,000 and a cover price of $5.99. It will cover Xbox games and accessories, offering news, game reviews and previews, along with tips and strategies.
``Ziff Davis Media dominates the U.S. game magazine market because we know how to create iconic magazines that appeal to core gamers,'' Dale Strang, Game Group vice president, points out. ``Microsoft chose to unveil the Xbox in our flagship magazine, Electronic Gaming Monthly, because they knew it had the greatest reach into the gaming community. Xbox Nation will be just as influential among Xbox gamers. It will be the key resource for the early adopters who determine which games will hit and which will miss in this highly competitive market.''
